Renewable, emissions-free, flexible hydropower will be needed to mitigate climate change. In the Nordic countries, hydropower plays also a significant role in balancing fluctuations in electricity production and in improving delivery reliability. As wind and solar power production increase, we also need more flexible, emissions-free electricity production that we can use to quickly respond to changes in production and in demand. Renewable hydropower production doesn’t generate any emissions into the air, water or soil. We are continuously developing our production to improve the energy efficiency and environmental friendliness. The condition of the water systems is also being improved through multiple volunteer projects.
We own nearly 4,600 megawatts of hydropower. A significant share of our capacity comes from about 130 power plants in Central Sweden.
